Traffic ‘Pick Up Stick’ game
Sunday, July 29 2012 THE EDITOR: My last letter concerning the Woodbrook, St James traffic plan I said that it was a good idea except for some parking details but living it on a daily basis after a couple of weeks I know it has turned out be a disaster in that Ariapita Avenue, Tragarete Road and the Western Main Road have become highways as 80 to 90 km is becoming the norm. Then there is the lack of business, my own has dropped by 65 percent as no one wants to park even though there is parking 9am to 3pm. What happens to all of our customers who come before 9am or after 3pm? Mayor Lee Sing has said that citizens are not planners, nor is he. It seems to me that our traffic planners are playing the game of Pick Up Sticks with our traffic as with every new throw of the sticks there is a change. On one throw, traffic lights appear on Roxy Roundabout, on another Petra Street is now south bound. On another St Clair Avenue is east bound. Hopefully on the next throwing of the sticks St James with all its hustle and bustle and Woodbrook will be back to its old self, as we love it so.
