ANR’s major contribution
Wednesday, August 8 2012 THE EDITOR: ANR Robinson was part of the government of this country’s first prime minister Dr Eric Williams. He parted ways and was very pivotal in the politics of Tobago. He then became prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago, also occupying that position at the time of the 1990 coup. His support after the 17-17-2 election result caused the first Indo-Trinidadian, Mr Basdeo Panday to become prime minister, and as president, he also removed Mr Panday and appointed Mr Patrick Manning as prime minister once more. Whether he had an impact on the victory of the present government is anybody’s guess. Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson is by far the most influential person in this country over the last 50 years.
