A man after God’s heart
Saturday, August 11 2012 THE EDITOR: The Bible exhorts us to give honour to whom honour is due. Pastor KK Bachew was not a man of infallibility, but he consistently exhibited and preached the principles of God without fear or favour. He was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ and he always moved with boldness for Jesus. He had a unique sense of humour, coupled with sharing his practical experiences that greatly enhanced his sermons. He was full of compassion, humility, faith, integrity, thoughtfulness, generosity and I can go on. In other words, he was a man with a heart of genuine love for all. He possessed optimum enthusiasm for God’s mandate and as a visionary, he continued to execute it with a passion until his passing. When he preached God’s word, he did it with simplicity as the apostle Paul. He preached truth. Permit me to excerpt two statements that still have me wondering whether he knew it was his last on the July 29, 2012. None of you will be able to say that this pastor didn’t warn you about (warnings mentioned). He also said, “You can miss next Sunday but don’t miss this Sunday.” That generated some laughter from the congregation because everybody was already in church. He just wanted to emphasise the urgency and importance of the message. In my opinion, it was as though the Holy Spirit was cheering him on saying “Preach my friend, be not afraid; preach I’m backing you.”
