Upon course of academic excellence
Monday, August 20 2012 THE EDITOR: Eric Williams, Learie Constantine, Wendell Mottley, Basil Ince, Tim Gopeesingh are but a few examples of Trinidad sportsmen who in later years successfully entered politics and government through their academic pursuits, sporting eminence and popularity. What this government has done is to embrace a golden hero of our rainbow nation and set him upon a course of academic excellence and empowered him with security and means that may well produce a future national leader that is beloved by all. In 20 years, Keshorn Walcott may stand at the helm of government if given the support of the nation as unstintingly as the PPG has given him theirs. It would be sad indeed if oppositional politics were to succeed in aborting this embryonic messiah of our integrated future.
