THE EDITOR: I wish to respond to Mr Colm Imbert’s letter to Newsday headlined, ‘Jack avoiding responsibility’, dated Saturday August 18. With all due respect Mr Imbert, I need to ask you as a resident of Maraval for the past 20 years:

What have you done to alleviate the flooding — not only in La Seiva and environs but also in the Diego Martin area? I remember being marooned in Diamond Vale and my vehicle swimming in deep waters there about three years ago when there was a huge downpour.

Where was this non rocket science you speak about? Politicians come and go but we have to jack his jacket and jim his jim boots and this is the first time I have seen such a quick response and clean up in a disaster.

When people saw their neighbours in distress, did they ask them if they are PNM, UNC OR COP before they lent a hand to assist? Mr Imbert — your political slip is showing and it is making yourself small in the eyes of the country.
