THE EDITOR: I wish to relate some positive news about the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, contrary to the negative reports we hear about the institution. From my observation, the service rendered by hospital personnel is often not adequately appreciated by both patients and visiting family members.

As a people, we need to be more grateful for when a job is well done, especially under adverse conditions.

I was a patient there from March to May this year on Ward 23. I was operated on by a team of skilful surgeons, Drs Mohammed, Romany, Obi and Clinker. These doctors exhibited the highest levels of professionalism and care in attending to me during my many ins and outs of the hospital which became necessary due to the unexpected complications that arose.

The nurses on Ward 23, in my estimation, went beyond the call of duty. They were nurses Kirton, Joseph, Buchoon, Changa, Montique, Nikky, Ramsumair, Mary- Beth, Lady-Jane and others.

The general staff, Butler and Ali, along with theatre staff, nurse Roxanne “Roxy” and the others, were also very supportive.

I wish to say “thank you” to all of them for the love, care and attention that was afforded to me during the period of my recovery.
