A Tobago man was arrested in Mason Hall on Friday night after he was found wearing a police bullet proof vest.

The man, a 45-year-old labourer, was also found with about 493 grammes of marijuana and 43 grammes of cocaine. An investigation has also been launched as to how the man came to be in possession of the bullet proof vest.

He is expected to appear before a Scarborough magistrate today on drug charges. A police report stated that at about 8 pm on Friday, officers were on mobile patrol on Main Road, Mason Hall when the suspect, on seeing the police vehicle, began to run. The police gave chase and the man was held. He wore the bullet proof vest under his jersey.

Investigations are continuing.
