Filipinos based in Trinidad and Tobago were successful in having their passport renewed in Trinidad, yesterday.

Filipinos living in TT were out in their numbers from as early as 3 am at temporary offices set up at Chaguanas and Port-of-Spain in a bid to have their electronic passports renewed.

Consul General for the Philippines Jose Ampero whose office is located in Caracas, Venezuela, said it was becoming very difficult, costly and time consuming for Filipinos in TT to have to travel to Caracas to renew their passports.

The envoy in consultation with Dr Marie Advani Consul for the Filipinos in TT decided to have a temporary office set up in Trinidad to facilitate the renewal of passports.

The process began on Friday and ended yesterday. This process became necessary because of the urgency for the electronic passports. The Filipino community complemented this special effort and hopes that a permanent office can be established in Trinidad because of the increasing number of Filipinos now residing and working in TT.
