An utterly shameful incident described as virtually “rubbing salt” into the wounds of British couple Peter and Murium Greene has occurred in Tobago.

On August 1, the couple was attacked and chopped at their Tobago holiday home.

Now, even as they are still recuperating from the attactk, thieves broke into their home located at Bacolet on Monday night and carted off a large quantity of their belongings. The victims are still under medical care back home in England.

Police were alerted to the incident when a door at the back of the property, was discovered smashed yesterday. The break-in is believed to have occurred sometime on Monday night. According to a police report, the items stolen included a stereo system, foodstuff including steaks and beers, a grill, water-pump, and a brush-cutter.

Police said the value of the missing items was not determined since a full inventory was still being carried out. Officers of the Scarborough CID are continuing investigations.

Meanwhile, Clint Alexis, 25, of Argyle, east Tobago, has been charged with the attempted murder of Peter and Murium Greene. The matter is currently pending before the Scarborough First Magistrates’ Court. Alexis will next appear in court on November 4.
