DEAD: Randell Ramkissoon....
RANDELL Ramkissoon was on his way to a Chaguanas night club to celebrate a friend’s birthday on Saturday night.
He never made it. Instead Ramkissoon, 31, of Beckles Street, Esperanza Village, died in a car crash on the Solomon Hochoy Highway.
Ramkissoon was going to celebrate his friend Michael Rampersad’s 47th birthday.
Rampersad was driving and Ramk-issoon was a passenger in the Honda Accord which swerved off the road and flipped several times, eventually landing on its hood.
The accident took place at about 11 pm in the vicinity of Indian Trail, Preysal.
Two other friends in the back seat of the car and Rampersad escaped unhurt.
Police said Ramkissoon was thrown out of the car, through the window.
Ramkissoon, who works at Petrotrin, was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
When Newsday visited Ramkissoon’s family yesterday, his mother Tara said her son phoned her and told her he would be spending the night out.
“I did not know that would have been the last time I would have spoken to my son. I did not know I would wake up to hear he’s dead. I still think this is a dream,” she bawled.
Ramkissoon was her only child.
“I felt nothing until the news really hit me later on and I went to the San Fernando Mortuary to see him. He was lying there with his swollen face and covered in blood,” she told Newsday.
“He was my everything,”she said.
