The 410th murder for the year was recorded when a Chinese national, who was stabbed during an altercation on board a vessel docked at Chaguaramas, succumbed to his injury at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (PoSGH).

His attacker, minutes after the incident, was attempting to run away when he accidentally ran in front of a moving police vehicle. Upon impact, the attacker was flung several feet in the air before landing on the roadway along the Western Main Road. He was also taken to the PoSGH where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to a police report, at about 4.30 pm Friday Li Hung Sing, 42, was liming with a group of his crew members when an argument broke out between him and another, named as Wa Luyn. Police said Wa whipped out a sharp object and dealt Li several stabs. Police said Wa ran off with several other crew members in pursuit. During the chase, police said, Wa ran onto the main road, directly in front of an oncoming police patrol vehicle.

Up to late yesterday, officers of the Carenage Police Station with the assistance of a Chinese translator were taking statements from the vessel’s crew members.

Investigations are continuing.
