THE MUCH anticipated Cease Fire Peace Concert at King George V Park in Port-of-Spain went ahead Saturday in the absence of one of its headliners, dancehall star Bounty Killer who was barred from entering the country on Friday night.

Fans turned out in their numbers for the show, even after word spread that one of the stars would be missing from the much anticipated event which was to feature the musical rivals in performances aimed at promoting peace. The event was promoted by Jacho Entertainment.

Bounty Killer and Vybz Kartel are known for their Gully versus Gaza dancehall feud in which they wage lyrical battles blamed for fuelling gang wars among their fans.

The show went on with a large crowd of local dancehall fans in attendance. At about 2:30 am, when Vybz Kartel appeared on stage, it was clear who the crowd, predominantly made up of young males, had come out to see. Without wasting time, Kartel, dressed in all white, as a symbol of peace, delved into his playlist of hits. The crowds lapped up every minute of his performance. No one seemed to miss Bounty Killer

Kartel, who has had success and heavy air play locally and regionally, performed for over two hours, delivering his popular hits. Not once in his performance did he mention Bounty Killer, or their lyrical war.

The dancehall star kept his promise to promote peace and that he did, pleasing his youthful fans.

Local group Spotrusherz opened the show at around 12:30, followed by a slate of local acts, including KMC and Red White and Black and Mr King.
