SHOT DEAD: Lowell Lashley ...
A LOVE triangle involving two men and a woman, turned deadly over the weekend when the jealous ex-lover of the woman, ambushed and shot dead her current lover moments after he (the victim) left her Tunapuna home during the early morning hours yesterday.
The murdered man has been identified as PTSC supervisor Lowell Lashley aka “Montell”of Second Private Road, Champs Fleurs. According to a police report, Lashley, 32, was shot once in the head while heading to his car along Cornelio Street, Tunapuna at about 2.30 am. He died instantly.
Investigators said Lashley had just left the home of his girlfriend when a man emerged from the shadows and shot him once in the head. Police have already detained a 24-year-old man in connection with the killing.
Yesterday at Lashley’s home in Champs Fleurs, several friends and relatives gathered and spoke in high praise of the deceased. Lashley’s youngest brother Leighton Lashley said: “It is a shock to us now...because we have been touched personally by crime. My brother gave us anything we asked for, especially me. This is a shock to us right now.”
Leighton explained that his brother worked ten years in a supervisory post at PTSC and fixed cellular phones on the side. The victim was the owner of a Nissan B15 Sentra vehicle.
“He was very ambitious. He had high hopes of opening his own taxi and catering service business. He has left two children behind. They are minors and right now we have to do everything to make sure that they are alright,” Leighton added.
Lashley’s mother was too overcome with grief and was unable to speak to reporters. The family of the deceased claimed that they never met the woman with whom Lashley had struck up a relationship.
Leighton Lashley said although his brother’s death was “hard to take” he does not wish any misfortune on the killer. “Nothing we do or wish will bring back my brother.”
“Every person has to render unto Caesar what is his and unto God what belongs to God. What you do in this life you will have to answer for it sometime. That is all I have to say about the matter,” Leighton added.
