Queen Elizabeth II ...

BRITAIN’s Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, The Duke of Edinburgh, will pay a State visit to Trinidad and Tobago from November 26 to 28 for the 2009 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) to be held in Port-of-Spain.

The Queen, in her capacity as Head of the Commonwealth of Nations, will deliver the keynote address at the Opening Ceremony of CHOGM on November 27, the ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Some activities planned for the Royal’s State visit apart from the official programme for CHOGM include the laying of a wreath at the Cenotaph, Memorial Park, the viewing of floral and craft exhibits and participation in a cultural youth rally at Queen’s Hall.

President George Maxwell Richards and Dr Jean Ramjohn- Richards are also expected to host a State dinner on the occasion of the visit by the Royal couple .

This is the third State visit by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, to Trinidad and Tobago. The previous visits were during February 7 to 9, 1966 and November 1 to 3 1985.

The Royal couple leaves TT on November 28, one day before the CHOGM officially closes.
