A TTEC meter reader was shot in the abdomen yesterday following a daylight robbery while he was on duty. St Servius Pamphille who is also a councillor in the Arima Borough Corporation was shot while reading meters at Brunton Trace in Mt Hope.

Police said Pamphille was confronted at gunpoint by bandits who announced a hold-up and tried to rob him of a gold chain.

Pamphille resisted and was shot. The bandits relieved him of a cellular phone and jewelry before escaping.

A bleeding Pamphille made his way to a nearby house where he shouted for help.

He was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope where he was treated and warded at the Intensive Care Unit in a satisfactory condition

In a press release, TTEC corporate communications manager Annabelle Brasnell condemned the incident saying the commission cannot tolerate attacks on its employees as they seek to deliver service to its customers. St Joseph police are investigating the matter.
