A reputed thief from Dundonald Hill, Long Circular, St James was murdered on Wednesday night outside his home while he was repairing a vehicle.

Police reports reveal that Mbwana Manning, 28, was fixing a car on the roadway outside his home when, at about 9.15 pm, two men approached him.

Relatives who were inside the house said they heard several loud explosions and upon checking, they realised Manning could not be found.

They immediately notified the police and officers from the St James Police Station and the Homicide Bureau responded.

When the police arrived they discovered Manning’s bullet-riddled body in a neighbour’s yard. The police believe Manning had a brief conversation with the two assailants after which he was shot. He managed to move a short distance away before he collapsed and died. Manning had a criminal record and was out on bail for several matters including the theft of a safe containing a large quantity of cash from a well- known car parts dealer in Bamboo Village .
