New hope for climate change at CHOGM
Friday, November 20 2009 FRENCH PRESIDENT Nicolas Sarkozy, Denmark Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s participation at next week’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Port-of-Spain will send “a strong political statement” to next month’s UN Climate Change Talks in Copenhagen, Denmark. Foreign Affairs Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon expressed optimism at yesterday’s post-Cabinet news conference, one day after Prime Minister Patrick Manning announced the trio would be attending the CHOGM.
