GOVERNMENT will spend $3 million to complete construction work of a retaining wall and wire wall fencing at the El Dorado East and West Secondary Schools. Sources revealed that the Ministry of Education decided that the wire wall fencing will prevent students from entering or exiting the school compound in the wake of a violent clash between students from the schools on November 17.

According to sources a number of students were exiting the schools’ compound and entering over the walls and through open spaces of the chain link wires. Phase-one of maintenance work — which consist of completion of a concrete wall which runs between both schools and part of the wire wall fencing at the front of the school have been completed.

Although police officers have stepped up their patrols, sources said students from El do West were threatening students at El do East about the non-ending feud among students.

Several parents have even decided to keep their children away from both schools in fear that their children may become a victims of crime.

Sources revealed that hopefully in January, 2010 PTSC buses will start transporting students to and from the respective school once all arrangements are put in place by officials from the schools.
