President of the Agricultural Society, Dhano Sookhoo has promised not to turn her back on farmers, and has agreed to accept nominations for the position of president in 2010.

Speaking at the society’s Christmas Family Day and Recognition Awards at the Macoya Farmer’s Market, Macoya, she said she was about to give up her role in an organisation where she has “given blood, sweat and tears to strengthen and protect.”

“I rescinded my nomination for president of the Agriculture Society but when many good minds come together can create a positive impact,” she said.

“When I came in the agricultural society with a vision, today I stand as a strong woman, a strong individual as your president giving you my full conviction I will remain with you as long as you allow me too,” she said.

“The journey has just begun, if you want me you will have me, we have come too far to turn back. I will never let you down, not now, not ever,” she added.

She admitted her year as president has not been an easy road and she expressed that she had done her best.

“You gave me an opportunity to lead this organisation and I gave it my best shot. At the end of it all we have risen high above positioning this organisation to becoming the flagship of agricultural development in this country,” Sookhoo said.
