TT rises to save Hannah’s life
By VERDEL BISHOP Thursday, December 17 2009 HANNAH LENDOR, nine, will undergo a much awaited liver transplant as she seeks a new lease on her young life, thanks to an outpouring of generosity from the public. Hannah, who for some months now, has been at the centre of a fundraising campaign to help her access life saving surgery, has only to raise $110,000 more out of the target of $1.3 million. Judging by the positive response from the public, the Lendor family remains confident that the target will be met today. Hannah, who is suffering with an advanced stage of Hepatopulmonary Syndrome caused by liver cirrhosis due to probable Autoimmune Hepatitis, will leave on January 6, for pre-operative tests at the Privado de hospital de ninos in Argentina. Hannah’s mother, Arlene Lendor, said that she is thankful that her worries are almost over, and that her child will finally be granted the surgery that would give her the gift of life. “I feel blessed, I thank God for everything that he has done for me. I thank Trinidad and Tobago for all that they have contributed. What seemed impossible became possible through generous donations from the public. I want to wish TT a merry Christmas and a happy New year,” Lendor said.
