Members of the Issac family who were left homeless after a fire destroyed their home. ...

A family of six is now without a place to sleep following a fire which totally destroyed their newly furnished home on Farm Road, St Joseph.

Paul Issac, his wife Usha, and children Fitzroy, Kerron, Natasha, and Raymond were forced to seek refuge at neighbours’ homes, and watch their home burn to the ground.

According to reports, at at about 2 am yesterday, flames were seen coming from a mattress in Fitzroy’s apartment, which was adjoining the house.

Those flames ignited a gas tank, and there was an explosion.

The Fire Service responded but it was too late. Paul Issac told Newsday everything his family owned was lost in the blaze.

“All the new furniture, the children books, uniforms, everything gone.

“My neighbours gave us breakfast this morning but I do not know where I will put my family.”

The flames also spread to another house at the back of the Issac’s. However, the owner of the home could not be found. Issac said, “All I want now is some assistance to rebuild.” An official cause of the blaze is yet to be determined. Investigations are continuing.
