Reigning champions La Horquetta Pan Groove topped the semi-final round of the National Panorama Single Pan Band competition last Saturday evening in front of Victoria Square, Port-of-Spain.

Performing at position 28 out of 32, the Arima-based steelband wowed both patrons and judges with the Duvonne Stewart arrangement of “Fire Coming Down” composed by Austin Lyons, to score 265 points.

There was a tie for second place between NLCB San Juan East Side Symphony and Arima All Stars. Both East bands scored 257 points.

Seventeen single pan bands will proceed to the finals on Friday, at the Lord Kitchener Stands, South Quay, Port-of-Spain along with the ten finalists in the small conventional band category.
