Timothy Nafziger ...

LATE businessman Timothy Nafziger will be remembered as a shrewd individual and as a mentor by those who knew him well.

Nafziger died on Tuesday night at a Los Angeles hospital after an aneurysm ruptured in his head. He left last Thursday to seek medical treatment after suffering the first aneurysm.

American-born Nafziger worked with the Government to help set up MTS and later worked with the National Housing Authority (NHA).

He later was appointed chief executive officer of Carib Brewery Limited, he then became chairman of ANSA McAl conglemorate.

His personal assistant Christine Jones-Vire, who worked with him for over six years, remembered him as a person who knew everything. “Anything you could think of, he knew about. He was also an avid sportsman with his favourites being cricket and football,” she said.

Nafziger was also an agent for several Caribbean players, including Dwight Yorke, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard and Lendl Simmons.

She recalled that she last spoke to her boss on Friday afternoon just before he boarded the plane from Miami to Los Angeles.

“I still have not reacted. I am numb, I am his personal assistant and I have grown so accustomed to him,” she said.

Nafziger was owner and executive chairman of MediaNet and Media21, which he started in 1998.
