PHARMACISTS across the country have begun the process of clearing out infant and children’s drugs that have been recalled by the Health Ministry. But the Pharmacy Board is advising parents not to panic but cease from using the drugs.

“There is no need for parents to panic, it is a voluntary recall. They are not fatal,” said President of the Pharmacy Board, Andrew Rahaman.

The drugs have been recalled due to suspected high concentration of the active ingredient that did not meet the testing requirements.

Up to yesterday, Rahaman said distributors were visiting different pharmacies and making sure that the drugs were being removed from the shelves. “The companies have been sending their different teams from the Human Resources department to visit the pharmacy to make sure that the drugs are removed from the shelves.

There are 250 pharmacies in the country so they would be continuing the process tomorrow (Wednesday),” said Rahaman.

Last week, the Health Ministry listed Tylenol Infants’ Drops, Children’s Tylenol Suspension, Children’s Tylenol Plus Suspension, Motrin Infants’ Drops, Children’s Motrin Suspension, Children’s Motrin Cold Suspension, Children’s Zyrtec liquids in bottles and Children’s Benadryl Allergy liquids manufactured in the United States as recalled on the advice of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
