ATHLETICS Central (AC), once known as the premier distance-running club in Trinidad and Tobago is set to re-emerge on the local running scene after a period of dormancy.

The club is now renewing its commitment to athletics with the launch of their first distance race of a 5-K (five-kilometre) course, which would take runners through the streets of Couva on September 26 at 7 am.

The race will begin and end at the Couva South Constituency Office Ground (opposite the Couva District Hospital).

The First place cash prize for both male and female categories are $1,000. First place Age Group Prize is $300. The age groups are Under 15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 60 and over.

The revival of distance running is the reason for Athletics Central to lead the way and once again return distance running to the glory days of Michael Alexander, Paul Voisin and Bernard Mangroo.
