QUIT: Linda Aadersson...

THREE weeks after being appointed Acting Head of Household at the Prime Minister’s Residence at La Fantasie in St Ann’s, Swedish national Linda Aadersson suddenly tendered her resignation last Friday.

Aadersson opted not to return to the Hyatt Regency where she originally worked before being moved to La Fantasie on February 19, 2008, and has since returned to her native Sweden, sources at La Fantasie said yesterday.

Aadersson was expected to be replaced by someone from the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force. She worked closely with former Executive Head of Household at the Prime Minister’s residence Armando de Souza, at a salary of $12,000 monthly. When De Souza was fired in early September following a meeting with Captain Gary Griffith who is the National Security adviser to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Aadersson was temporarily placed in charge of the Household.

Late last month, the Prime Minister told Newsday in an exclusive interview that she had officially moved into the Prime Minister’s Residence but sometimes stays at her family home in South Trinidad to spend time with her close relatives and to have contact with her constituents.

Sources revealed that the Prime Minister was not too keen to work closely with both De Souza and Aadersson. Sources revealed that the Defence Force has short-listed a number of persons to fill the vacancy and a final candidate is expected to be chosen before the end of this week.

This means that the Prime Minister’s residence will once again be under the control of someone from the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force.

In 2007,then prime minister Patrick Manning opted to have someone from the Hyatt Regency Hotel take over duties as Head of the household and De Souza was the person chosen for the job.

Sources revealed that the former prime minister did not trust locals and most of his staff comprised foreigners including 20 Filipinos, De Souza, a St Lucian and Addersson. It is the intention of Prime Minister Persad Bissessar to have the household returned under the control of locals.
