A JAMAICAN woman recently disrupted a Caribbean Airlines flight from Toronto to Jamaica as she brandished a nail file and screamed and cursed passengers. The incident occurred a few days ago and was captured on cellphone video by a passenger which was uploaded to social video sharing website YouTube.

The video shows the woman before take off screaming expletives at passengers and at one point dancing and singing in the aisles. During taking off she was seen strutting up and down the aisles.

In an article on the Canadian Broadcasting Centre’s website, Clint Williams head of corporate communications for Caribbean Airlines described the video as disturbing. He said tie straps were retrieved from crew members which could have been used to restrain the passenger in her seat.

However, a well-known Jamaican entertainer named Luciano was also a passenger on the same flight and he offered to intervene before that step was taken.

“He volunteered to go and have a chat with the woman and, you know, use some of his star power and hopefully calm her down, rather than see her be put into physical restraints. He sat with her. She calmed down almost immediately and remained calm for the rest of the flight,” said Williams. He said investigations were continuing and the woman in the video would be questioned to ensure she was not a threat for future flights.
