Brother forgives his brother

Friday, September 21 2012

A SANGRE GRANDE man has forgiven his brother for chopping him on his leg and arm during an altercation seven years ago.

David Moore was before Justice Prakash Moosai in the Port-of-Spain First Criminal Court, charged for wounding his brother Ryan Sorias with intent to cause him grievous harm on June 19, 2005.

Moore was yesterday discharged by the judge. Although the reason for the attack was not revealed in court yesterday, according to the facts of the case, read out by prosecutor Joy Balkaran, Sorias was walking down a flight of stairs at his home at Jacob Coat Avenue, North Eastern Settlement, at about 5 am when he felt a blow to his lower leg.

She said Moore was seen under the house with a cutlass in his hand. Sorias, according to the prosecutor, saw a huge cut on his leg and as he came further down the staircase, he was chopped on the upper left arm. His injuries were so severe he required surgery.

When the matter was called in court yesterday, Sorias said he had forgiven his brother and they had reconciled their differences, visiting each other’s homes frequently.

Sorias also declined an offer for monetary compensation for his injuries. Attorney Fulton Wilson represented Moore.
