Boy, 9, buggered

Tuesday, October 16 2012

POLICE have detained a 20-year-old man of Duncan Village, San Fernando in connection with the buggery of a nine-year-old schoolboy. A medical examination by the District Medical Officer yesterday morning, revealed that the Standard Two pupil suffered a ruptured anus during the sex attack.

The suspect, police said, was a guest at the boy’s home. Police sources told Newsday that the child’s stepfather found him lying on a blood-stained mattress during the early hours of yesterday morning, after he (the stepfather) responded to a muffled sound coming from the bedroom.

According to a police report, at about 12.10 am yesterday, the 30-year-old man was awakened by a crying sound coming from the room in which his stepson was asleep. Upon checking, he observed his 20-year-old male house guest lying on top of his stepson’s back. The man raised an alarm causing the younger man to run out of the house.

The man later told police that his guest had removed a mattress from the bed and placed it on the floor before assaulting the minor. Blood stains were observed on the mattress and police sources said that near the mattress, a bottle of vaseline, with its cover off, was found.

A report was made to the San Fernando Police Station and the suspect was subsequently arrested. The child was taken for medical attention and is now receiving counselling from members of the Police Service’s Victims Support Unit. Charges are expected to be laid shortly, police sources said.
