ICY weather conditions yesterday forced Heathrow International Airport in London to ground 187 flights by midday local time yesterday. However, its rival Gatwick Inter-

national Airport, also in London remained open.

This was good news for London-bound passengers in Trinidad and Tobago and in Barbados since most airlines which operate between these two Caribbean countries and London do so via Gatwick.

Checks with an official at the Airports Authority of TT yesterday revealed no cancelled or delayed flights due to bad weather at Gatwick.

Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL) also told Newsday that none of its London flights had been affected.

Checks with the Grantley Adams Inter-

national Airport in Barbados revealed that airlines operating the London route from that island did so out of Gatwick. Hence no delays or cancellations yesterday because of icy weather.
