Former prime minister, Patrick Manning, made a surprise appearance at the Calypso Monarch semi-finals, Calypso Fiesta, at Skinner Park yesterday and almost brought a halt to proceedings as the huge crowd erupted in a loud roar.

Manning accompanied by his wife, Hazel Manning and former Tertiary Education Minister, Mustapha Abddul-Hamid, together with several supporters, walked through the thick crowd, waving and smiling to patrons who greeted him with cheers, hugs and hand shakes. Some patrons even had photographs taken of themselves with the former prime Minister. Manning walked through the crowd slowly, but unaided by anyone.
