ARIMA'S KING: Radcliffe Forrester's costume 'Creature of the Wonder Garden', was judged the Arima Carnival King of the bands during competition Wednes...

ROXANNE OMALO and Radcliff Forrester claimed the Arima Carnival Queen and King of the Bands titles respectively following competition Wednesday night at Arima basketball court.

Omalo appearing in position number six, grabbed the attention of photographers, judges and the audience.

She won with her portrayal “Aurora - A Luminous Phenomenon of Light & Beauty”, beating ten other contestants in the process. Forrester took first place in the Kings category with his portrayal “Creature of the Wonder Garden”. Both have made it to tonight’s National King and Queen of Carnival finals at the Queen’s Park Savannah.

Forrester made a lasting impact with the judges with his presentation which was arrayed in a burst of colours. Based on the sustained applause he received, there was no doubt that Forrester’s portrayal was the one to beat. His rivals could not cut it though.

Arima Mayor Ghassan Youseph declared that Arima Carnival was very much alive and remarked that this was the first time in a long time that so many had competed in the Kings and Queens of Carnival categories.

A total of 13 Queens and nine Kings paraded before the judges. Youseph complimented Deputy Mayor Patricia Cedeno Metivier and her hard working councillors who were the engines behind Arima Carnival.

He promised an even bigger, better and more lucrative Carnival in 12 months time for competitors. Not even a light smattering of rain could deter the crowd from gathering to witness the array of costumes. A brief look at the official results are as follows:
