AN EARTHQUAKE measuring 4.9 on the Richter Scale struck in the sea yesterday and was felt in many parts of North and Central Trinidad, Grenada and Venezuela. The quake was registered at about 1.27 am, while the Finals of the 2013 National Panorama competition was taking place at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain.

According to seismologist Joan Latchman at the Seismic Research Unit in St Augustine, the tremor took place under the sea at a depth of 44 kilometres at 4.9 magnitude.
