THE Health Ministry announced extended hours for hospitals and health centres throughout the country for the Carnival period.
The Accident and Emergency Departments at all major health facilities will be open round-the clock. Several health centres in the North West Regional Health Authority will be open for half day. These are: 8 am to 1 pm – Aranjuez Health Centre, Barataria, El Socorro, Las Cuevas, Morvant, San Juan, Santa Cruz, Success/Laventille, Upper Laventille. Health centres open from 8 am to noon: Maraval, Petit Valley, Diego Martin and Carenage. Health Centres which will be closed are: George Street, Oxford Street and Woodbrook. The George Street, Oxford Street and Woodbrook Health facilities will be opened tomorrow from 8 am to 4 pm.
A mobile clinic is operational at the Grand Stand Queen’s Park Savannah and South Quay on Carnival Monday and Tuesday.
Under the North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) 24-hour service will be available at the Accident and Emergency departments at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope Women’s Hospital, Arima District Health Facility, Caura Hospital and Chaguanas District Health facility.
The St Joseph Enhanced Health Centre will be open from 8 am to 10 pm while the other health centres under the NCRHA including La Horquetta, Brasso Seco, Maracas St Joseph, Talparo, Arouca, Cunupia will be open 8 am to 4 pm.
The Sangre Grande Hospital’s main walk-in entrance is not accessible and the entrance next to the A and E department should be used. In the Eastern Region, the Valencia Outreach Centre and Sangre Grande Health Centre would be open 7 am to 5 pm, Matura Outreach Centre from 8 am to 4 pm and the Brothers Road Outreach Centre, Biche Outreach Centre and Guayaguayare Outreach Centre will be open 8 am to 12.30 pm. All other facilities would be closed.
The Poison Information Hotline is 800-2PIC, and the information hotline is 800-ERHA.
Twenty-four hour service will be available at the A and E departments of the Couva, Princes Town, Siparia District Health facilities. The Pleasantville and Freeport health centres will be open from 8 am to 4 pm. The Roy Joseph Health Centre will be open 8 am to 4 pm.
All other health centres will be closed.
Clinics will be open from 8 am to 4 pm at the Princes Town Health Facility, and 8 am to noon at the Couva, Siparia health facilities and Pt Fortin Area Hospital.
No outpatient clinic services will be available at the San Fernando General Hospital on Carnival Monday and Tuesday.
