Archbishop Joseph Harris prayed for Pope Benedict XVI that he may be well, and find strength in his last days as the Pontiff.

Pope Benedict XVI, 85, announced his retirement last week due to failing health. His retirement would make him the first Pope to resign his position in six centuries.

Harris prayed for the well-being of the Pope yesterday during a special mass held at the Lady of Lourdes RC Church, Maraval. The mass was held to celebrate the feast of the Lady of Lourdes.

The Archbishop’s main message to the congregation was through Mary, the Lady of Lourdes, a true loving relationship with God would be formed.

He told the congregation, “If you loved God, you would talk to him every day — like you would with your boyfriend or girlfriend when you were young.”

Harris said that constant communication with God would make a person a child of God. Only the Blessed Virgin Mary, teaches people how to love and communicate with God because it is a mother’s responsibility to show them their Father, the Archbishop said.
