The Central Trinidad woman who is expecting to give birth to sextuplets next month is reportedly in stable condition at the Mount Hope Women hospital where she has been warded since January 25.

At a recent media briefing, North Central Regional Health Authority, (NCRHA), chairman, Dr Shehenaz Mohammed, had stated the entire hospital, from cleaning staff and drivers to consultant gynaecologists and nursing staff, had all been placed on standby had the 28-year-old woman gone into labour over the long Carnival weekend.

She said the expectant mother, whose identity was being kept secret, was being closely monitored by a team of doctors and nurses on a continuous basis since her admission to the institution.

In an update on the woman’s condition yesterday, Mohammed stated both “mother and babies were stable” and had not begun to experience labour pains as yet.

She also noted that the babies were “growing well” and reiterated that they were constantly monitored by a team of medical personnel.
