THIRTEEN persons are today homeless after fire, deliberately set, destroyed two houses at Clifton Hill in John John, Laventille yesterday afternoon. No injuries were reported according to both police and fire officials.

Police reported that at about 1.30 pm, a house at Clifton Hill was set on fire by persons unknown. This house, which comprised two apartments, was occupied by three persons two of whom were identified by police as Andy Huggins and Makeda Romain.

A report was made and officers from Besson Street Police Station and firemen from Fire Headquarters, Wrightson Road in Port-of-Spain and Belmont Fire Station responded.

The house, Newsday was told, was gutted.

Then at 2.15 pm, a nearby house was also deliberately set on fire. In this case, ten persons were left homeless.

Police sources yesterday said they had no motive for both fires and they are expected to return to the scene today to continue investigations.
