IN SHOCK: Gangapersad Samaroo, planned a surprise for his daughter, who died in a highway crash yesterday morning....

TWENTY FOUR-year-old Shivonne Devica Samaroo did not live to see her 25thday birthday which she would have celebrated today with friends and family at her Princes Town home.

Samaroo, of Inverness Road, was killed in a vehicular accident along the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Chaguanas on Sunday morning.

Samaroo died on the spot, police said. According to police reports Samaroo was the front seat passenger in a vehicle travelling along the south- bound lane of the highway. Reports said the driver of the vehicle collided into a pole off the road. Samaroo was on her way home after liming with a friend at a popular club in Chaguanas.

The driver of the vehicle of Buen Intento escaped with minor injuries.

Speaking at the family home in Inverness Road, Princes Town, Samaroo’s father Gangapersad, 47, said he last saw his daughter on Saturday morning before she left for work. He said he was not at home when his daughter left to go out with a friend. “I only got the news this morning that my daughter was in an accident and I was told to come to the Chaguanas Police Station. I did not know she was dead,” a grief-stricken Gangapersad said. He said today would have been a special day for his daughter. “I had everything planned out for her birthday. I was going to buy the cake and ice-cream and stuff when she went to work and surprise her when she got home from work.”
