300 vehicles for hot spot crime areas

The Police Service will be the recipients of 300 newly-acquired vehicles which will be used in hotspot crime areas as part of the new anti-crime initiative implemented one week ago.
Sources revealed yesterday that the vehicles, which are to be outfitted with state-of-the-art technology, are due to arrive in the country by the middle of next month, and will then be outfitted with technology which will be used to detect crime more effectively. According to sources, some of the vehicles will be able to travel along rough terrain while others will have special features to check the numberplates of stolen vehicles on the spot, along with other features used in dealing with crime.
