MP recruiting officer, teacher, engineers, cop on drunk driving charges

A FEW drinks taken after a hectic day of campaigning for the upcoming Local Government Election has landed a 35-year-old employee from the office of a Couva Member of Parliament in hot waters.
The 35-year-old recruiting officer will appear before a magistrate in the San Fernando Court today charged with drunk driving. He was one of 10 persons arrested and charged on Saturday night after failing breathalyser tests conducted on motorists during a police exercise along the Gulf View Link Road in La Romaine. Police said the Couva man told them that he had been on the campaign trail all day and had not eaten he took drinks instead. A school teacher, four engineers and an estate constable were also arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and will also appear in court today. Also on Saturday, two Oropouche men, 23 and 25 were arrested and charged with being in possession of a .38 revolver and four rounds of ammunition after they were stopped and searched in a roadblock in Gasparillo.
