‘Extra lessons not critical’
By AZARD ALI Wednesday, September 25 2013
EXTRA lessons are not necessary to win scholarships, says Open national scholarship winner Maryam Archie. “I never took a day of extra lessons,” Archie, 18, told Newsday at her school, St Joseph’s Convent, San Fernando.
She recommended to students in lower forms the key to becoming a national scholarship winner is to, “pay full attention to your teacher in class and do past papers.” Archie was among 14 scholarship winners from the Convent in this year’s CAPE results. She captured an Open scholarship in Mathematics and plans to pursue the relatively new field of Mechatronics which is the study of the working of engineering components, both electronic, mechanical and computing.
