Ameena Ali wins her lawsuit against the NWRHA
Thursday, December 19 2013
CHIEF Executive Officer (CEO) of the Eastern Regional Health Authority (ERHA) Ameena Ali – who has been at the centre of controversy recently – was yesterday victorious in a court matter stemming from a 2005 decision to transfer out of another regional health authority, the North Western Regional Health Authority NWRHA.
A panel of the Court of Appeal, comprising Chief Justice Ivor Archie and Justices of Appeal Rajendra Narine and Maureen Rajnauth-Lee, dismissed an appeal by the NWRHA of a 2005 decision by then High Court Judge Justice Sebastien Ventour who ruled that a decision to make Ali’s job redundant, ending her secondment from the Ministry of Health, and to transfer her back to the ministry to hold a pharmaceutical job was unjust. The NWRHA appealed and that appeal was dismissed with costs.
