These children were not afraid of the waves crashing on to the shore as they bathed in Chagville, Chaguaramas, yesterday. ...

Despite the rough seas bulletin issued by the Meteorological Society of Trinidad and Tobago, Piarco, families still decided to brave the waters in western Trinidad to cool down some of the heat from the scorching sun.

Dozens of families, with children in tow, took the opportunity to soak in the ambience of the sea water and fresh breezes.

Under the watchful eyes of their parents, children frolicked in the water at Chagville, Chaguaramas.

“The water is pretty calm right now, but thank you for bringing this to our attention. Everything is okay for now, and the water is fine,” one mother assured.

One man said whatever roughness they experienced was because of ferries passing by. Another said the water was only just getting rough.

The Met office’s report indicated that sea conditions along the exposed coasts of TT would be moderate to rough with wave heights 2.5 to three metres high.

These conditions were expected to continue for the next 48 hours.
