Mr Jones P Madeira ...

The Board of Directors of Daily News Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Jones P Madeira as the Editor in Chief of the Newsday Newspaper with effect from March 10, 2014.

He replaces the late Therese Mills, Newsday’s Chairman/CEO and Editor in Chief who passed away suddenly on January 1, 2014. Mrs Mills led the company for 20 years during a long and meritorious career in journalism for 68 years.

Mr Madeira has had a distinguished career in the media spanning more than 45 years, starting as a radio and television broadcaster with the Trinidad Broadcasting Corporation and Trinidad and Tobago Television and in print journalism, as the Editor in Chief of the then Trinidad Publishing Co Ltd.

Mr Madeira is also an experienced corporate communication practitioner having worked in the local and regional private and public sectors, with his last tenure as the Court and Protocol Manager of the Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Board of Directors and the Newsday family warmly welcome Mr Madeira and look forward to his leadership in taking the newspaper forward as a dynamic, trendsetting publication that has built a solid reputation for “telling it as it is” and for providing the “News People Trust”.
