Mom finds ‘sex text’ on daughter’s cellphone

By LAUREL V WILLIAMS Saturday, March 22 2014

A WOMAN who discovered a “sex text” message in her 14-year-old daughter’s mobile phone, which called on the teen to meet a man for a round of sex at a public beach, has reported the matter to Mayaro police.

Having read the text message yesterday, police investigators said the woman of Rio Claro, immediately escorted her daughter to the police station in Mayaro where she (the mother) made a formal report. Police subsequently took the secondary schoolgirl to a doctor for a medical examination which confirmed she was sexually active.

While being interrogated by police, the girl told officers she was having a sexual relationship with a man who is said to be in his late 20s or early 30s.

Both mother and daughter were assisting police with the investigations up to yesterday evening. Police said an arrest is immi-

nent and WPC Brown is continuing investigations.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy from Mayaro was placed on $75,000 bail with his father acting as surety, when he appeared before Magistrate Gail Gonzales in the Mayaro Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with three counts of sexual intercourse with a female between the ages of 14 to 16.

The teen was arrested on Wednesday night at his home by a party of officers which included Cpls Maharaj and Bachew and PC Motilal from the Mayaro CID.

ASP Neville Sankar coordinated the exercise. Charges were laid by WPC Maharaj of the Mayaro Police Station.
