THE Woodbrook Presbyterian Primary school has been earmarked for demolition and reconstruction within a two week time frame, Education Minister Dr Tim Gopeesingh confirmed yesterday, adding that a tender has been awarded for the project.

“The Presbyterian Board is making arrangements for housing schoolchildren at a temporary location to facilitate the rebuilding of the school. However, discussions have been taking place with the Ministry and Board to work toward putting things in place for the students,” Gopeesingh said.

Parents were told by members of the Ministry that students will be housed at Presbyterian Hall, at Lucknow Street while the school is being rebuilt. The school has been closed for the past six months due to an acute vermin infestation including rats and pigeons and the general dilapidated condition of the school.

During the closure, students from the First Year Infants class to Standard Three class were placed at St Crispin’s Anglican Primary School, while Standard Four and Five students were placed at the Princess Elizabeth Home.

However, students who were placed at the Anglican school are now at home due to a lack of space.
