Bernadette Joseph, mother of Kriston Gibbons, who was killed yesterday near his home in Malick, Barataria....

Kriston Gibbons did not like the chicken pelau that his mother , Bernadette Joseph, had made for dinner so he decided to go to a nearby food place to get himself a hamburger instead.

It was the last hamburger he would ever wish for. Gibbons was shot dead after descending the steps leading down the hill from his house at his Seventh Avenue, Barataria, home, yesterday.

He never made it to the food outlet.

Yesterday, Gibbons’ father, Sydney, said his son liked “bling”, seeing about his car and looking good.

Sydney, a cancer patient, described his son as hard working, one to always make sure that his family had the best.

Gibbons’ death was a father’s nightmare come true.

“I am so numb, I can’t sleep,” Sydney told Sunday Newsday yesterday.

“He (Kriston) never smoke a cigarette; he was the designated driver and he would do this for all his friends. They killed my son because of jealousy, because of what he had.

“He was just trying to finish his car and paint it. He always work hard, selling provision in the market, and all he liked was his music and his ‘bling’,” said the distraught father..

Sydney said his son left home around 7.30 pm (on Friday night), “...around eight I hear bawling, ‘they shoot Fat Man.’”

He swore he would leave no stone unturned to find his son’s killer/s. “I have an idea who it is. My son dead quick and fast, but I sure that their death will be slow and long,” he declared.

“My son was a sweetbread and for him to get a bullet in the head and back? For what?” Sydney asked. Gibbons’ mother, Bernadette Joseph, is currently recovering from pancreatic cancer.
