Creed on more leave

Tuesday, June 10 2014

REYNOLD COOPER, Head of the Public Service, was yesterday informed by Ministry of Sports Permanent Secretary Ashwin Creed, that the latter is taking additional vacation leave.

In relation to reports of the absence of the Permanent Secretary, Cooper said Creed applied for vacation leave and was granted such leave by Minister of Sport Anil Roberts.

I spoke with PS Creed who informed me that he submitted an application for additional leave to Minister Roberts for the period May 24 to June 30, Cooper told Newsday. He indicated that Minister Roberts had no objection to the additional vacation leave being taken.

I received a letter today (yesterday) from the Ministry of Sport stating that the Minister had agreed to the vacation leave, Cooper said. Staff at the Ministry confirmed that Creed was not in office.

In relation to a separate issue, Cooper also said he has written to Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Juliana Johan-Boodram giving her seven days to report on a visit to Argentina and arrangements if any put in place for her absence from that ministry.

Cooper is expected to submit her (Johan-Boodram) report to the Public Service Commission (PSC) for any action, deemed necessary.
