By CECILY ASSON Wednesday, July 16 2014
THE Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) has joined the search for missing teenagers Daniella Gobin, 14, of Sangre Grande and Orphilla Holder, 15, of Tobago. Yesterday, the search continued in Manzanilla and environs for Gobin and Holder who were residents of the St Jude’s Home for Girls in Belmont and who disappeared while on a retreat in Manzanilla. According to reports, last week Thursday, the teenagers were among 35 girls from the correctional institution on a two- week retreat at Carries on the Bay Hotel in Manzanilla when they evaded security including police officers and ran off. Newsday was told the girls ran away to attend a party that night.
They are yet to be found despite a search involving all relevant agencies. The retreat wahads been organised by the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Child Development whose Minister Clifton De Coteau yesterday told Newsday actions of the missing teenagers have left their colleagues upset.
