The casino is also offering a reward of $200,000 for useful information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Police reports revealed that Khaladi and singer Dennis De Souza were leaving the casino early yesterday, when they were held up by two men. Khaladi resisted and was shot in the abdomen.

He was treated at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.

From today, the casino will run an ad for seven days in Newsday notifying the public of the reward.

Managers at the casino told Newsday yesterday that they would like to get to the bottom of the shooting.

They are hoping that eyewitnesses come forward and assist the police in the interest of solving crime in the country.

Although it was business as usual at the casino yesterday, members of the business community at Grand Bazaar expressed concern over Khaladi’s shooting.

They added that more stringent security measures should be put in place to deal with crime in that area. St Joseph Police Station officers are investigating the incident. They believe that the persons who shot Khaladi believed that he had large sums of cash on him, but a security company reportedly handles all the cash transactions for Island Club Casino.

Investigations are continuing.
